National Assembly president Heng Samrin told a visiting delegation
yesterday that the government would continue to support efforts to find
missing remains of US soldiers who died on Cambodian soil during its war
with Vietnam, according to a senior official.
Speaking to reporters after Samrin met with Ann Mills Griffith, head of
the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in
Southeast Asia, Keo Piseth, Samrin’s cabinet director, quoted him as
saying that he “expressed support for the humanitarian activities of the
board, which [provides encouragement] to the families of the Americans
who died in the war in Southeast Asia and across the globe”.
More than 1,600 American service members from the war have not been accounted for.
